A week with the Amish
I spent a week in beautiful Holmes County Ohio. The largest Amish settlement in the world. What an awesome experience. I spent a week with a man named Raymond Rabur and we drove his Percheron draft horses for the week. What I found out however, is that all of the Amish I met were just so open armed and welcoming. Very hard working people but had time to stop and talk. In the world in which I live, folks are always late for whatever they are trying to do and don’t even have time to wave. The Amish don’t feel threatened by you if you start a conversation unlike most folks in the English community, English being the world in which most of us live. I will definitely be back. I feel like I have been at a spa for the week and don’t feel I need another week off from being on vacation!
