Their only connection to the rest of Russia, and indeed the world, is a helicopter that arrives twice a week. Denis Terebikhin found himself in Volochanka by appointment—he was sent here to work as a school principal. He ended up staying here forever. Together with his Dolgan wife, Nasu, he decided to take up Arctic hunting and bring musk oxen to the village. Together with his fellow villagers, he strives to realize his plan. At the same time, an amazing life unfolds before the viewers on the edge of the earth. There's Terebikhin's assistant, who was supposed to become a shaman like his ancestors, but decided against it and is now forced to drink to suppress his visions. There's also a teacher who initially sent his resume to the local school as a joke. A hunter-fisherman who, thanks to his trade, became one of the most respected and wealthy Nganasans. And Denis Urvan, a young man who decided to work hard so that his sisters and son could leave Volochanka forever.
