Antelao - Dolomiti Cadorine

#rockthemountain #antelao #dolomites #normalroute #rifugiosanmarco #forcellapiccola #rifugioscotter #lelaste We set off from the Rifugio San Marco, where we concluded our outing the day before. We wake up, have breakfast, pack our backpacks, say hello to the managers, and at 6:58, we're ready. We follow trail 227 to Forcella Piccola, where we find those who have more or less voluntarily decided to spend the night. From Forcella Piccola, the Normal Route for Antelao begins, which initially climbs steeply to the scree, where the gradient eases and it's much easier to traverse than the Sorapiss scree (the day before). We then reach the edge of the rock face where the actual climb begins. I decide to leave my poles there; Evy prefers to keep them on her backpack. The trail starts narrow and steep on the wall, until it goes around it and then, maintaining a certain slope, widens. The climb, as the report states, is quite variable; on the way down, we realized we hadn't followed the ascent route; moreover, the presence of various cairns makes it almost impossible. The slabs of Antelao are undoubtedly the most distinctive part of the climb: a vast, sloping expanse of smooth rock slabs, where maximum attention must be paid, especially on the descent. For the rest, we find small snowfields and some fun vertical sections. We meet five people descending, and at the summit we will be alone. The descent will certainly be the moment where we must maintain the highest level of concentration; we will retrace the ascent route as much as possible. We will first use a fixed rope that we hadn't seen on the way up, and then our own to safely negotiate the steepest section of the slabs. We'll also help Mat, an Austrian guy born in Hungary who, at a certain point during the climb, wisely decided to turn back. Once we return to where I abandoned my boots, all we have to do is descend the scree slope and the trail to Forcella Piccola, retrace trail 227 to the fork and turn onto trail 229 to the Scotter Refuge (refreshments available), then down to the Sunny Bar and back to the car. Two unforgettable days! I invite you to subscribe to the channel, if only to show solidarity for the many hours spent making videos! :) Shares are also welcome.
