#skylimitprojman #becauselittlethingsmatter #thecapemalay #pinkieschow #madrassatusobiereen #jawwap The sixth episode of Season 2, the Brand New SERIES: The Cape Malay “Jawwap!” BRAND NEW | Season 2: Episode 6 | Mogamat Allie Floris | The Cape Malay “Jawwap” a division of SKYLIMIT ProjMan (PTY) Ltd “Because Little Things Matter” Meet 71-year-old Boeta Allie Floris, a living legend & stalwart of the Cape Malay Choirs, The Coons & Moppie item, formerly from Bo-Kaap in Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA, as he shares his journey for the first time. Boeta Allie is the eldest of 9 children & takes a trip down memory lane to reminisce over a winning streak with The Young Zinnias. Unable to contain his emotions, he speaks of a challenging upbringing & pays tribute to the memory of his late father & wife. He is passionate about Bridgetown & is dedicated to Community Work to try & make the world a better place. Boeta Allie has 3 children, Zulfa, Kashiefa & Ebrahiem & 7 grandchildren. A Moppie, or Comic song is a jovial item in the annual Cape Malay Choral or Minstrel Competitions with a good beat to it. Many bits & pieces of popular melodies or hit songs are often used to better a performance & composers would switch from one tune to the next keeping the crowd excited & entertained as they hang onto every lyric to find the humour. Talented people like Boeta Allie, who provides a storyline, assists on the lyrics or music, as well as taking the lead on the actual performance, deserves much praise & many would agree that he has had a pivotal role in the success of many troupes & for that, he is well respected by all members of the sport. Amongst the old & well-known other Kaapse Ghoema Liedtjies which many hold dear are ‘Januarie, Februarie, March’ ‘Oom Jakkals’ ‘Daar kom die Alibama’ & was often sung on New Years eve when a troupe was invited & thereafter refreshments would be provided. Boeta Allie has travelled around the world, his only wish is to see Al-Aqsa. He is excited to be delving into the archives to share precious as well as painful memories …like Shirley Bassey says in the song: ‘This is my life!’ Despite, all of the challenges, a joyous spirit remains. Boeta Allie reminds us not to judge others, to guard the tongue at all times, as so not to hurt anyone’s feelings, to respect our elders & to always provide some sort of encouragement or inspiration to others so we can all strive to become better people. Even though he doesn’t like the word very much, he will always remain a ‘legend’ to many & we thank him for inviting us into his home to share his story with us! You have been “Cape-M’laid” 🙂 ------------------------------------------------- The raw and untold stories depicted here were inspired by our Galant and Diedericks Families, formerly from Claremont and District Six in Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA; by our self-published and best seller book: Imam Haron’s BILAL ”Let them hear, let them listen!” (where we have encapsulated our father's memories of the 1960s, Hajji Abduraghmaan 'Pinkie' Galant, a student of the Anti-apartheid icon, the late Imam Abdullah Haron who was incarcerated for 123 days without charge and in isolation, he was brutally tortured and killed in September of 1969, written in true Cape Malay style, by Fatima Galant Abrahams, with supporting footnotes and a glossary to better explain to the reader); as well as by our Madrassatu-Sobiereen, our Pinkie’s CHOW Community Food Drives, our rich culture, history, and traditions preserved by our forefathers. Despite everything they have gone through in the past, a joyous spirit remains. ------------------------------------------------- For More, SUBSCRIBE to our Cape Malay “JAWWAP” Channel on YouTube, it’s FREE! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSE5...
