The Cruze debuted in 2011 and since then it has been a great selling compact car for Chevrolet. This great all around vehicle exudes style and carries a very affordable price tag. The base price on the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze is $18,275 with the top of the line LTZ model tested here starting at $23,190. Chevrolet really went all out on the Cruze in the style department. The shape of this car is closer to that of the luxury segment with its sculpted body and sharp angles. The 2012 Chevy Cruze has a lot of the same family resemblance found on other Chevrolet vehicles like the Traverse and Malibu. Upfront the Cruze has the unique twin grin grille shared by many Chevy automobiles, the hood is a clams shell design, the headlights are large and blend in with the rest of the front end, and the shoulder lines are high giving the Cruze a very aerodynamic look. The RS package equipped on this road test vehicle adds body parts that give the Cruze a much more sporty appearance. The RS package includes new front and rear bumpers, lower spoilers, and a rear wing. The RS also adds fog lights and a better looking instrument panel complete with chrome accent rings. The powertrain on the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze is more upscale than that of its compact car class brethren. The engine in the LTZ is a 1.4 liter turbocharged motor designed for both performance and fuel economy. The small displacement ensures the Cruze is fuel efficient while the turbocharger adds a tons on usable horsepower. Power output is 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft. of torque. Combined with a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission, the Cruze gets excellent gas mileage. Fuel economy ratings for the LTZ model are 26 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. The 2012 Chevrolet Cruze really stands out from the crowd thanks to its premium interior. The steering wheel has a cool design, is wrapped in leather, and features integrated cruise control, Bluetooth, and stereo controls. The leather seats not only look great but they provide tons of comfort as well. The 2012 Chevrolet Cruze has more interior room than many competitors in the compact sedan class and it features more cargo volume than the Civic, Corolla, and Focus. Besides being fuel efficient, spacious, and good looking; the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze packs 10 standard airbags. In fact the Cruze was named a Top Safety Pick for 2012 by the IIHS. To make the car more stable on the road, Chevrolet added the StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System with Traction Control as an added layer of safety. The Cruze is a great car for the price and should be taken for a test drive is you are looking to purchase a small compact sedan. See More Car Videos http://www.autobytel.com/car-videos/?...
