The AbemaTV Tournament to decide the shogi speed king has been launched! This program will be played under the "AbemaTV Rules," inspired by the legendary seven-time champion, Yuzuru Hanyu. The AbemaTV Rules are a new set of rules that incorporate the Fischer Rules, well-known in chess (a player loses if their time limit runs out by five minutes, with five seconds added for each move). Players will advance to the finals in a best-of-three format. Twelve top players will compete in a preliminary round, with the six players who advance and two seeded players competing in a main tournament to determine the winner.
