Can a hiatal hernia cause AF?

A lot of people with heart rhythm disturbances complain that their symptoms are worse when they are more bloated or have more indigestion and therefore the question that arises whether pathology in the stomach in some way could be contributing to their heart symptoms. Often they go to their doctors and ask them whether this could be the case and more often than not the doctor turns around and shuts them down by saying that there is no relationship between the stomach and the heart. The patient often is left feeling despondent and even made to feel silly for asking this.
