1996 Lurgan Park Rally

Kenny McKinstry headed into the 1996 Lurgan Park Rally chasing his eight win on the event. Being familiar with the event, McKinstry took RPM and UTV presenter Pamela Ballentine as his co-driver for the day but they were to face stiff opposition from James Cullen and Frank Meagher as well as former Belgian and European Champion, Patrick Snijers. Snijers, who would go on to compete in the event five more times in the coming years, put up a stunning display of car control but it wasn’t enough to catch McKinstry and Ballantine, who prevailed by 4 seconds in the ex Bertie Fisher Subaru Legacy.
