Jimmy Carter Interview on Israel-Palestine Conflict and Oslo Peace Process (1993)

On 13 September 1993, the Oslo I Accord was signed on the White House lawn in Washington DC by Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian representative Yasser Arafat. The agreement represented a historic breakthrough in the search for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The same day, former president Jimmy Carter was giving a sermon to his local congregation at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia. The former president took the opportunity to discuss the Arab-Israeli conflict with his fellow church-goers, and to pray for peace.
