Located in the Amazon biome, it has a landscape marked by the presence of plains and a hot and humid climate. Its population of 413,000 inhabitants represents 46% of the entire state population, although it is one of the smallest Brazilian capitals. In addition to being the political center, it plays the role of economic center of Acre. The history of Rio Branco began with a centuries-old tree located on the right bank of the Acre River. In 1882, Neutel Maia was enchanted by the Gameleira tree and decided to found the Volta da Empreza rubber plantation there, which would become the capital of Acre. The location became the first street in Rio Branco, now called Calçadão da Gameleira, and in 1981 it was declared a historical monument. Acre Acre is one of the 27 Brazilian states, having been elevated to this status in 1962. Before being annexed to Brazil, it belonged to Bolivia and Peru. It is located in the North Region, in the Amazon biome, and the predominant climate is humid equatorial. The state is a major exporter of Brazil nuts and timber, as well as being the country's main producer of rubber. History of Acre Until the second half of the 19th century, Acre was inhabited by indigenous populations and was still part of Bolivian and Peruvian territories. Starting in 1877, motivated by latex exploitation, the first migrants from the Northeast region of the country arrived in the Acre territory. Between 1899 and 1909, disputes over control of the area were fought between Bolivians, Peruvians, and the Brazilians who were already there. The conflicts with the Bolivians culminated in the Treaty of Petrópolis in 1903, when Brazil acquired the territory of Acre. The conflict with the Peruvians, in turn, ended six years later. On June 15, 1962, Acre was elevated to the status of a state. Geography of Acre Acre is located in the North Region of Brazil and within the Amazon biome. It has a territorial area of 164,123 km², being the 16th largest Brazilian state in terms of area. The state of Acre borders the states of Amazonas and a small strip of Rondônia to the east. It also borders two countries: Peru, along its entire western portion, and Bolivia, to the southeast. The westernmost point of Brazilian territory is located in Acre. This is the Serra da Contamana, which houses the source of the Moa River. The predominant climate in the state is humid equatorial, marked by high temperatures for most of the year and low temperature variation. Maximum temperatures reach 32°C, and in winter, minimum temperatures are around 18°C. High rainfall is another important characteristic of the Acrean climate, varying between 1,800 mm and 2,500 mm annually. Acre is located within the Amazon Rainforest, with vegetation cover consisting of open forests, characterized by species of palm trees, bamboo, and vines, and dense forest. Another formation found in the state is the Campinarana, composed of medium and small-sized trees. Boca do Acre, Amazonas Boca do Acre is a Brazilian municipality located in the interior of the state of Amazonas. The city of Boca do Acre originated at the confluence of the Acre and Purus rivers. The municipality of Boca do Acre, 1,561 km from Manaus by road, was inhabited by the Capanas and Aripuanãs Indians. The origin of the name comes from the fact that the city is located at the mouth of the Acre River where it meets the Purus River. The city of Boca do Acre originated at the confluence of the Acre and Purus rivers. On February 3, 1878, the ship Anajás, belonging to the Amazon River Navigation Company, anchored near the confluence of the Acre and Purus rivers. Under the command of pilot Carepa, the expedition was led by Commander João Gabriel de Carvalho e Melo, who had already amassed a fortune exploiting rubber and was also exploring the lands of the municipality of Boca do Acre. He and his companions settled in various points of the territory that today constitutes the municipality of Boca do Acre. Alexandre de Oliveira Lima, known as the Baron of Boca do Acre, settled where the city is now located. In the village of Floriano Peixoto (formerly Antimari), which was originally the seat of the municipality, Antônio Escolástico and Firmino Alves dos Santos settled. The economy of Boca do Acre is based on livestock farming. The municipality does not have significant industries and has a poorly developed service sector. Even though it is a municipality in Amazonas, it is highly dependent on the capital of Acre, Rio B...
