Caregiver Grief and Loss
This video addresses the possibility of looking at grief as a normal part of a caregiver's reality - even though it's not a common conversation. Caregivers often experience grief and loss at various stages of their caregiving journey. When the job of caregiving first lands on you - you lose your free time, are out of pocket financially, and mourn the loss of your care recipient's full health. During caregiving, as your family member or friend's condition ebbs and flows, you experience grief and mini-losses during times of change. If your care recipient reaches the end-of-life stage, you can feel helpless and unsure about what to do. And, finally, if your caregiving journey comes to an end, it's hard to re-start life, knowing it will never be what it once was. Consider the ideas offered here to be an opportunity to find growth, hope and light at the end of the tunnel throughout the caregiving journey.
