Eagles Wing by Skipinnish performed by Sing in the City at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2025

In the summer of 2025, Sing in the City took part in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The Heroes who made us Tattoo was their 75th anniversary and it was also our 15th. We took 800 members and rotated them around 25 performance. We were the first choir ever to be at the Tattoo, certainly the biggest cast member. Kirsty Baird, Annette Hanley, Claire Miller and Neil Gregory also recorded solo vocals and the Sing in the City Aw Blacks also recorded on the esplanade. The songs performed were Eagles Wing by Skipinnish and Travel these ways by Karine Polwart. This video is the Sing in the City story and just some of the individual friendships that were made. Some friendships were made with other cast members and some within Sing in the City as strangers met to share stairwells and steps and grew to be friends. Kirsty Baird loves Edinburgh castle and as much as this was a huge challenge, she said it was 'life changing for many members and also for myself. It was an honour to walk up the Royal Mile every day and up the the castle and spend so much quality time gaining new experiences. The training we have instilled in our members made the job so much easier but when you have 1000 members and so many good people ready to step in to take Team Leader positions, then we can take on any performance. At the time of writing this, there are 14 Sing in the City choirs across Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians.
