The Valchiavenna cycle path by bike, from Pian di Spagna to the Church of Nossa Doma in Promontogno, Switzerland, and back. A route of approximately 80 km and 1,000 m of elevation gain, it follows the course of the Mera River for long stretches, crossing a wide, green, and surprisingly quiet valley. The route is approximately 90% on a separate cycle path, completely flat until Chiavenna, making it suitable for everyone. After Chiavenna, the valley narrows and the route begins to climb, leaving your legs feeling well-trained, always immersed in a natural, traffic-free environment, with short stretches on secondary roads in Switzerland. Open views, mountains looming over the valley, and a handful of quaint villages make this route ideal for those seeking a long, stress-free, and crowd-free day on the bike.
