No one practiced it, and nearly every attempt at a "powerful" serve resulted in an out or the ball hitting the net. Over time, the side serve emerged, which evolved into a kind of hook. Something in between the top and bottom serves. Players began to realize that this upgraded serve started causing difficulties in reception for opposing teams. Athletes began consistently serving from the top only in the 1970s. Around that time, the jump serve also made an appearance. However, in the 1990s, the world witnessed powerful serves that astonished everyone. In today's game, the serving technique among athletes has reached an extraordinary level, with the ball reaching incredible speeds of over 100 km/h after the serve. Receiving such a fast-paced ball has become significantly more challenging, impacting the overall level of the game and the spectacle of this sport.
