Massimo Troiano - Su genta Burno | Apra Finestra! Canzoni moresche

“Su genta Burno” is Massimo Troiano’s only canzone moresca. The neapolitan composer frames the familiar scene of a serenade – Giorgio singing beneath Lucia's window – with a martial contrasting opening. The piece begins with a brif but vivid martial gesture: percussive and onopmatopeic vocal writing evoking trumpets and dtrums, layerd over the insistent cry of "Su genta Burno" – an identitarian call to the Neapolitan Black slaves community. This opening scene quickly gives way to a more intimate dimention, revealing the underlying character of the serenade. For the first ever recording of this piece, PassiSparsi expands the sonic palette with percussions, colascione and lute, highliting both the martial and the lyrical nature of “Su genta Burno”. “Su genta Burno” is the second single from 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐚 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚! – 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐢 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞, the debut album by PassiSparsi, out April 1st 2026!
