Gobierno iturbidense y la Secretaría del Campo entregan apoyos para la reactivación rural familiar

Thursday, June 25, 2026 – To improve the quality of agricultural and livestock activities, combat the effects of climate cycles, and provide producers in the Sierra Gorda region with technology and quality inputs, the Municipal Government, in conjunction with the Guanajuato State Department of Agriculture, completed the first distribution of production support for the year, with a joint investment exceeding 1,328,000 pesos. The distribution event brought together dozens of beneficiary families from the agricultural sector and was presided over by the mayor of Iturbide, Dr. Edgar Manuel Montes de la Vega; Eng. Marisol Suárez Correa, head of the State Department of Agriculture; Eng. Lucila Ocampo Valle, Director General of Agriculture for the state; Alfredo Lozada Rayas, Coordinator of Rural Development for the municipality; and Eduardo Soto Vargas, representing the beneficiary producers. Comprehensive Investment for a Sustainable Agricultural Sector The support provided is part of a robust plan to diversify and revitalize primary economic activity, distributed under strict technical and social transparency schemes: Productive Livestock with the provision of 25 forage mills and 3 livestock trailers to modernize the operations of 28 production units in communities such as El Jovero, Atonguito, Los Vega de Arriba, La Venta, El Guajolote, El Saucito, Pozo Blanco del Capulín, La Cinta, Rancho Nuevo de Buenavistilla, El Zorrillo, La Canela, San Diego de las Trasquilas, Puerto Carroza, and La Puerta de Españita, among others. Fish farm with 66,600 tilapia fingerlings to promote high-protein, low-cost aquaculture production, benefiting 13 production units in the reservoirs and bodies of water of Presa de los Vargas, La Huerta, El Capulín, El Mastranto, San Diego de las Trasquilas, La Venta, Puerto de Ceniza, Los Encinos, and Estancia de San Diego. Future Agriculture promoting perennial, highly profitable commercial projects geared toward the international market, through the establishment of one hectare of pitahaya and one and a half hectares of lemons, ensuring marketing chains for export. Fertilization for the Fields with technological packages designed to increase the yield of rainfed and irrigated corn for 39 production units in more than 25 rural communities within the municipality. The Municipality: Primary Authority in Defense of the Local Budget During his address, Mayor Dr. Manuel Montes celebrated the arrival of the rainy season after facing the most severe drought in the last six decades, and announced that state heavy machinery would be provided to expedite the dredging of levees and canals in the communities to prevent flooding and store clean water. However, in a forceful message, delivered with his characteristic thoroughness, the mayor clearly defended his team's work and the municipality's assets, lamenting that political actors outside the administration were attempting to misguidedly claim credit for these actions on social media: "The money for these grants doesn't grow on trees; it comes from citizens' taxes. Municipalities are the primary authorities, the direct link, working on projects with the people under the blazing sun. The mayor knows exactly where the potholes are, where a levee needs dredging, or where to plant pitahaya. It's disrespectful to claim that these projects are the responsibility of a single entity. I demand respect for this administration because we pay for, design, and promote these projects from the local level. In this country, we must strengthen municipalities, as we are the ones who address daily realities, and I will not tolerate any abuse of the efforts of our Rural Development team," the mayor firmly stated. Montes de la Vega acknowledged the sensitivity of the State Governor, Libia Dennise García, and her willingness to work in coordination with the municipalities, setting aside ephemeral positions to focus on tangible legacies for the benefit of those most in need. Guanajuato Doesn't Distinguish Between Political Parties: Secretary of Agriculture For her part, the Secretary of Agriculture, Engineer Marisol Suárez Correa, acknowledged that San José Iturbide was one of the first municipalities to step forward to coordinate efforts as soon as the state administration began, highlighting the municipality's balance between its industrial drive and its agricultural vocation. "Our governor, Libia Dennise, has clearly instructed us to work for the people of Guanajuato without regard to political affiliation or ideology." Finally, beneficiary Eduardo Soto Vargas expressed his gratitude for the support on behalf of the communities and agricultural producers: "These supplies and tools are a great help for the economic sustainability of our families and for keeping our countryside alive."
