After Gentaro returned indoors, Annie came out. Since the outdoor area still had food leftovers from the Haoko group’s gorillas and Momoko's poos, Annie walked around sniffing the area. The scent of the gorillas must have lingered in the outdoor area, and Annie was particularly sniffing the spot where Momoko had been sitting. Did she sense something? ———————————————— ———————————————— Notice from Ueno Zoo Regarding Co-habitation Training for Gentaro and Annie ⇩ 🔳Update May 25, 2026: Closure of Park Pathways Due to Co-habitation Training for Gentaro and Annie Since the announcement on Saturday, May 16, we have been conducting co-habitation training every day before the park opens. At first, these sessions lasted only about 5 minutes, but now the two are able to spend about 10 minutes together. Although there are times during these sessions when both gorillas become more tense, over the past few days, Gentaro has gradually been spending more time calmly eating. We will continue to monitor the two and gradually increase their time together. However, if things continue to progress smoothly, we anticipate that by Tuesday, May 26, we will no longer be able to complete their cohabitation training before the park opens. Therefore, starting Tuesday, May 26, and for the foreseeable future, we will restrict access to the viewing walkway until 10:00 a.m. 🔳Update June 29, 2026: Co-habitation practice and the closure of the viewing walkway will be suspended due to facility maintenance. Starting June 30, cohabitation training for Gentaro and Annie will be suspended for approximately two weeks due to facility maintenance within the exhibit area.
