In northwestern Yakutia, near the Vilyuy River, lies a rugged landscape bearing the marks of some kind of massive cataclysm: massive 800-year-old forest heaps, along with scattered stone debris stretching for hundreds of kilometers. This area has long been considered cursed by the Yakuts and is called Yelyuyu Cherkechekh, which translates as Death Valley. Approaches to it are blocked by large tracts of wild taiga and swampy lands. For centuries, strange metallic objects have been scattered throughout this area, some on the surface, while others have sunk deep underground. The strange features of this area and its deadly atmosphere force local residents to stay away from these lands. There are no settlements within 100 kilometers. Only lone hunters, unaware of their surroundings, occasionally stumble upon metal structures, abandoned here by an unknown person or for some unknown purpose. Others find enormously deep holes in the taiga, leading to the bowels of the earth. Some daredevils have even managed to discover systems of interconnected rooms beneath metal structures, containing strange devices and lifeless humanoid creatures in silvery robes.
