Hallongrotta or better known as Thumbprint Cookies is a typical Swedish cookie that is given a hole using the thumb and filled with fruit jam. Slightly different, here I use Ovomaltine Crunchy Cream filling. The savory taste of butter combined with the sweetness and crunchy sensation of Ovomaltine chocolate spread. Thumbprint Cookies Recipe (for 1 jar ± 50 pcs) Cookies dough ingredients: 125 gr butter 60 gr powdered sugar 1 egg yolk 150 gr low protein flour 50 gr cornstarch 50 gr powdered milk ½ tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla extract Filling ingredients: 5 tbsp Ovomaltine Crunchy Cream 5 tbsp liquid milk Steps: 1. Stir the butter, powdered sugar, powdered milk, cornstarch, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and salt using a spatula until evenly mixed 2. Add flour, stir until evenly mixed, do not over mix 3. Sprinkle a cutting board with cornstarch, roll the dough and cut into equal pieces. Round the dough and arrange on a baking sheet lined with baking paper 4. Make a hole in the dough by pressing with a spoon or thumb. Bake at 150°C for 10 minutes 5. Press the dough again to form a hollow. Bake for another 10 minutes 6. For the filling, mix Ovomaltine Crunchy Cream and liquid milk. Mix well then put in a piping bag 7. If the filling will be baked, bake the cookies half-cooked then spray ovomaltine on the cookies, then bake at 100°C for 5-10 minutes until browned 8. If the filling is not baked, spray ovomaltine filling on the cooked cookies 9. Mix the butter, powdered sugar, powdered milk, cornstarch, yolk, vanilla extract, and salt using a spatula until well-incorporated. 2. Add the flour in. Stir until the dough is merged. Don't over-mix. 3. Sprinkle the cutting board with cornstarch. Roll the dough and cut it up evenly. Make a ball and arrange on top of a pan lined with baking paper. 4. Push the dough with a spoon or your thumb. Bake at 150°C for 10 minutes. 5. Push the dough again to form a crater. Bake once more for 10 minutes. 6. For the filling, mix the Ovomaltine Crunchy Cream and milk. Mix well. Transfer to a piping bag. 7. If you'll bake the filling, half-bake the cookies and fill them with the Ovomaltine mix. Bake it again at 100°C for 5-10 minutes until it's browned. 8. If you won't bake the filling, fill the fully-baked cookies with the Ovomaltine mix. 9. Serve with powdered sugar sprinkled on top.
