Laboratorio de investigación de cáncer infantil de Sant Joan de Déu

The new childhood cancer research laboratory has come into operation, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of its opening. 🔬 It is a renewed area and oriented to new needs with technologies available for precision diagnosis and the development of new treatments against developmental cancer. 🧫 A total of 1,112 square meters attached to the molecular oncology laboratory - which currently allows us to offer an accurate diagnosis of all patients -. The space, located on the fourth floor of the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona, is the central axis of the translational research model, whose objective is to transfer the results of the research to patients whenever this is safe and possible. 🧪 Since its creation, the research laboratory has carried out more than a hundred clinical trials and opened 5 research groups focused on several lines each of them 🥼 A large part of this activity has been promoted thanks to donations of more than 20 million euros during all these years, which come mainly from families, patient associations and large solidarity actions (and also several companies) and have allowed finance most research projects. 🔎 Currently in this laboratory, renovated thanks to the collaboration of Fundació La Caixa, patient associations and other civil society entities, more than 50 professionals, including researchers and laboratory technicians, work.
