Single Leader Method: Best For Growing Thicker Trunks & Faster Fig Trees? (April Update)

Lots of excitement to share this one. Single leader requires planning and patience, and the wait is finally over! These things are booming. The wait was definitely worth it. It can be hard to plan and wait for "real" tree growth for the following year. It can seem like wasting time. However, all my doubts have been erased, and this is a fantastic way to grow figs if you have a little bit of patience. If you can look forward to having the best trees on the block at the end of year 2, SLM is for you. Plus its very fun and rewarding to grow things as tall as possible that first year. Reaching for the stars in year 1, with beanstalk-like growth of my fig trees, was a great time. Notorious FIG and MJFigs are huge sources of great info and inspiration. Please check out their channels using the links in the video. They have been important contributors to my early single leader success:    / @mjfigs      / @thenotoriousfig   Hit me up with any questions. I realize I blazed through stuff. Use the pause button and comment with anything you wanna know more about. I wanted the video to be complete, but as brief as possible. The music, I should have commented on. "I don't believe it.": It's perfect because I am amazed at the great results. In the vid, when I referenced "Scoreboard," I needed one more sentence to say, let's look at the comparison later in year two. We are at halftime, and the remainder of the game could be a blowout. Thumbnail is one of my Palmata Hybrid figlets. Love those fuzzy little guys. #figs #propagation #rooting #gardening, #pruning #figtrees #figtrees #containergardening, #fig tree pruning, #SingleLeaderMethod, #SLMfigmethod, #growingfigsinCalifornia, #VasilikaMelissifig, #BordissotNegraRimada, #howtogrowthickfigtrunks, #pruningfigtreesforfruit, #Hoffigkamp, #woodgluepruninghack, #rarefigvarieties, #figorchardmanagement, #springfigcare2026, #NerrucioloDElbafig, #Conadriafig.
