Dome Pools Magaliesberg Overnight Hike - South Africa

In November 2022 we spent 2 nights in Dome Pools situated in the Magaliesberg mountain range about an hour away from Pretoria South Africa. On the hike out we got caught in a good old fashioned lightning storm and with just a few kilometres left I heard a hiss in front of me, looking up we found a Puff adder ready to strike. I have never been so grateful to hear a hiss, a warning from a puff adder, a snake that usually doesn't give you any warning at all of their existence until you step on them and get injected with their deadly venom. This felt like a miracle. About Dome Pools: Dome Pools is a wilderness hiking venue, involving an easy walk over a hill and along a stream to some of the biggest and deepest rock pools in the Magaliesberg, making it a fantastic venue for swimming in the summer months. The path is not marked – it is essential to follow the route on the map. Non MCSA members must obtain a permit from the MCSA Magaliesberg Section. This is private property, MCSA managed.
