#tibet #china #travelwithak Today is my second day in Lhasa after arriving by Qinghai-Tibet train. And I’m excited to show you what Lhasa looks like through my eyes during my 9.5-kilometer walk. I’m staying at a four-star hotel with a great view of the Potala Palace. It looks very different from other cities in China. There are also many cars, shared bikes, and international brand stores. The sunshine in Lhasa is warm and pleasant, and there are many devoted pilgrims on the streets, spinning their prayer wheels. It made the streets feel peaceful. I also learned how to say "hello" in Tibetan from some friendly locals. Later, I came to Jokhang Temple Square, which was lively and full of unique energy. I also walked around Barkhor Street, where there are many shops selling jewelry, souvenirs, and various Tibetan handicrafts. Interestingly, the Tibetan spoken by locals in Tibet is similar to Hindi, and I even thought they were Indians at first. I also met a guy from Guangzhou who spoke English, and he kindly showed me around a local market. After that, I found a restaurant and had a meal. Then, I tried riding a rickshaw, but there was a small misunderstanding with the driver due to the language barrier. Luckily, I made it back to the hotel safely. This is my first impression of Lhasa - a beautiful and unique city.
