#cop30 Recognizing Energy Access as Africa’s Missing Climate Goal!
We focused on developments from COP30 in Belém, Brazil, where African civil society is amplifying a strong call for global climate frameworks to finally recognise energy access as a climate goal. At a time when more than 630 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa still live without electricity, and nearly one billion rely on polluting fuels, organisations warn that climate action will remain incomplete-and unjust - if universal energy access is not treated with the same urgency as mitigation, adaptation, and climate finance. One of the key voices at COP30 pushing this agenda is Eugene Nforngwa, Director of Programs and Research at the African Coalition for Sustainable Energy and Access. He joins us live to break down Africa’s position and the outcomes of the side event dedicated to this cause.
