Our history is full of seismic events that have devastated entire communities at the local level, but have also severely impacted the collective memory of a country. And L'Aquila is probably the recent event that has defined an era, both humanly and mediatically. An entire city was affected, an entire historic center. Remembering an earthquake means paying tribute to the victims, but also understanding how the survivors lived and continue to live, many of whom lost their homes, had to interrupt their businesses and jobs.
