BENAVENTE, Santarém

Benavente é uma vila e sede de um município no distrito de Santarém.Benavente tem foral antigo, dado em 1200 pelo mestre da Ordem Militar de Évora e confirmada pelos reis de Portugal em 1218 por D. Sancho I e por D. Manuel em 16 de Janeiro de 1516. Benavente, foi destruída pelo sismo de 1909, que matou mais de 60 pessoas e destruiu praticamente todas as casas da povoação.
