We Ignored This Recommendation For Years...

We finally visited Arnhem, a city in the Netherlands that has been recommended to us over and over again. But the real reason we came? The Netherlands Open Air Museum, a place that so many of you have told us we needed to visit for years. Located just outside Arnhem, this massive 109-acre museum is unlike any other place we’ve visited in the Netherlands. Instead of just looking at exhibits behind glass, you can walk through authentic historic buildings, farms, windmills, workshops, and even ride a historic tram through Dutch history. We checked out the futuristic Arnhem Centraal station, visited the impressive Eusebius Church (including the terrifyingly high glass lookout platform), tried the famous Arnhemse Meisjes cookies in ice cream form, and ended the day at the iconic John Frost Bridge, the site of one of World War II’s most famous battles. Arnhem has a fascinating mix of Dutch traditions, modern design, food, and history and after hearing so many recommendations, we can finally see why people love this city.
