Florent Schmitt - Sur un Vieux Petit Cimetière (On an Old Little Cemetery) - Crépuscules, Op.56

I would consider this one a study in ties, I have surely missed a couple of them embedded in there. Starting with ''melancholic and distant bells'' that persist in the background for the whole piece, this is a fantastic lesser known work for fans of Debussy and Ravel. Challenging to pull off, it has some fairly interesting voicings that require a good level of thought and horizontal musicality to execute effectively. I did my best. It operates on quite a Rachmaninoff'ian structure of building towards one enormous climax, before relenting and fading to an ending in almost complete silence.
