"IMPOSSIBLE" Mission 34 - Where Boys became MEN (Gran Turismo 4 Driving Missions)

Gran Turismo 4 was one of the first racing games to provide gamers with the ability to tackle the Nurburgring Nordschleife, an infamously difficult & unforgiving otherwise known as the green hell. It definitely deserves this title. Several licence tests are featured on the Nordschleife including full lap trials, that prove to be a formiddable challenge for the unprepared. But none of this could truly condition PS2 racers for the challenge that was yet to come. Welcome to the driving missions, or in this particular instance, driving mission 34. After fighting your way through the previous 33 missions, you finally make it to the finale & you'll find no place to rest here. Well, not outside of the 2 minutes you have to nervously wait as the timer ticks down before you're finally allowed to drive. Interestingly, the Japanese & American versions of Gran Turismo 4 were more difficult than the European PAL version, with the wait time being 123 seconds on the non Pal versions, whereas the PAL version was sat at 115 seconds instead. A drawback of the PAL version though is that the car is arguably harder to drive with a higher tendency to oversteer being present. Even to this day, you can find forums dating back almost 20 years ago discussing the difficulty of the mission & arguing if it's even possible to complete the mission.
