EP14. Rigoberta Menchú: “Hubo tiempo en que me sentí encarcelada en la misma historia”
Guatemala marks 30 years since the signing of the Peace Accords amidst institutional backsliding that has driven more than 200 justice officials, judges, prosecutors, and journalists into exile. In this context, FILGUA pays tribute to Dr. Rigoberta Menchú Tum, Guatemala's only Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who received the award in 1992 as the first Indigenous woman to do so. In this interview, Menchú recounts the persecution and death of her father, Vicente Menchú, the execution of her brother, Patrocinio, the forced disappearance of her mother, and analyzes the institutional setbacks under Consuelo Porras's leadership of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
