NYC Severe THUNDERSTORM 08/02/24 | Bay Ridge Brooklyn | Cloud to Ground Lightning, Rain & High Winds

The ETA of the storm line passing through was expected between 6 and 7pm. I have decided to make my way onto 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn NY. This is where some of the strongest storms will pass through. This storm's 2 big features were the cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain. There were some high winds at times, but not the usual wind wall that is associated with these type of storms. There will be plenty of lightning and thunder for this walk, including a very close strike. The strike will occur on 92nd Street and 4th Avenue. A cell tower on the roof will take a hit. Just before this strike, the air started to dramatically change and started to feel charged. This made me get some cover just before the strike. You can check the timestamps below for more specific timing. The time of day is still very much sunlight. The sun doesn't go down for another hour and 15 minutes from this point. It will seem like night time for awhile. All the street lights turn on for this storm. There will also be alot of people on the streets that got caught unprepared. I was originally planning to do another 3rd Avenue Street Festival walk just one block up from here, but this totally washed it out.
