In the county rights city of Debrecen, also known as the "Cívis City" or "Calvinist Rome", the Reformed great church is located between Kossuth square and Kálvin square in the Belváros district, with two towers, each 61 meters high, housing a total of two bells. The great bell, also called the Rákóczi bell with weighing 3,800 kg and with a lower diameter of 195 cm, located in the western (left hand side when viewed from the front) tower of the church, which will sounds at noon in August 2025, was poured by Ignác Hilzer in Bécsújhely (Austria) in 1873 by recasting the bell cast in 1636 by the Transylvanian prince George I (first) Rákóczi and cracked in 1802. The bell was installed in Budapest in the same year (1873) by the locksmith József Pozdech from Pest with the bell yoke he developed and which is still on it today (2026), making it the largest reformed bell in Hungary. The Rákóczi bell in the western tower of the Great reformned church in Debrecen sounds with a tensile magnetic drive and fixed clapper.
