Once upon a time, life “boiled” here. All this belonged to the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute, established back in the 30s of the last century. More than 500 employees worked in numerous laboratories, and specialized sea vessels went on scientific expeditions. The village had a kindergarten, a school, a library, a club. Now only those who did not want or could not leave remained in Dalnye Zelentsy. But scientists do not lose hope that research into the underwater world of the Barents Sea will still be revived, albeit not on the same scale as before. Throughout the warm season, from May to October, they live and work here, studying the underwater inhabitants of this harsh region.
