Centenaire d'évangélisation de la Paroisse Ste Thérèse de l'enfant Jésus de Mondombe (1925-2026)

Centenary of the Parish of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus of Mondombe (1925–2025) – Jubilee Celebration in 2026 Sunday, July 5, 2026, will be remembered as a day of grace and thanksgiving. The Parish of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus in Mondombe, in the Diocese of Bokungu-Ikela (DRC), solemnly celebrated its centenary jubilee, marking one hundred years of history since its founding in 1925. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, surrounded by the bishops of the ecclesiastical province of Mbandaka, including Archbishop Ernest Ngoko Ngombe (Archbishop of Mbandaka-Bikoro), Bishop Toussaint Iluku Bolumbu (Bishop of Bokungu-Ikela), Bishop Jean-Bertin Nadonye (Bishop of Lolo), Bishop Joseph-Bernard Likolo Bokal'Etumba (Bishop of Lisala and Apostolic Administrator of Budjala), and Bishop Libere Mpwongo (Bishop of Basankusu). Joseph Mopepe (Bishop of Molegbe), along with numerous priests, religious brothers and sisters, and faithful from various localities, came to give thanks to the Lord. This great celebration was also marked by the diaconal ordination of three acolytes: two from the Diocese of Bokungu-Ikela and one from the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC). This celebration is a reminder that, one hundred years after its founding, this local Church remains fruitful in vocations and committed to the mission of proclaiming the Gospel. This jubilee was a moment of gratitude to all the missionaries, pastors, catechists, and faithful who, since 1925, have contributed to building and nurturing this Christian community. May this anniversary open a new chapter of faith, communion, and missionary commitment in service to the Church and society.
