ZEITWERK DECIMAL STRIKE | Interview with Anthony de Haas
Given its mechanical architecture, the ZEITWERK calibre offers ideal prerequisites for the integration of a striking mechanism: Every sixty seconds, a higher amount of energy is needed for advancing up to three discs of the precisely jumping numeral display. Accordingly, once a minute, the patented constant-force escapement gives the mainspring a tiny moment in which it can unfold its full power. This moment is used to advance the numeral discs and at the same time, to chime the time as well.
