The Ultimate Test! Bouncing Lamb vs. German Shepherd Drive | Day 2 E-Collar Bootcamp

Day 2 of 5: The Ultimate Livestock Test & Incredible Progress with Otto the GSD 🐺🐑💨 Welcome back to Day 2 of Otto’s intensive 5-day E-Collar avoidance bootcamp. Yesterday, this beautiful German Shepherd was screaming, barking, and lunging at sheep from 30 to 50 feet away. Today, we took things to a whole new level of real-world proofing out on the moors, and his progress is nothing short of superb. What happens in today’s video: The Ultimate Test: At the end of the lesson, we faced the ultimate high-drive distraction—a little lamb suddenly bounced right across the path directly in front of Otto. Yesterday, this would have triggered a massive predatory reaction. Today? Otto didn't even try to speed up. He stayed completely neutral and just carried on walking. Proximity Proofing: We went from keeping a massive distance yesterday to walking within just 4 feet of the sheep today. Otto didn’t bat an eyelid, showing he is completely understanding the new boundaries. Recall Check: On the few recalls we tested today, Otto is sticking close and refusing to move away from his owner. His focus has completely shifted. 💡 PRO TRAINER CRITIQUE (What to look out for): If you watch closely during the lamb encounter, Otto is walking out in front of his owner. While his behavior was flawless, my professional preference in the real world is that when you are passing livestock at such a close proximity, the dog should always be at your side (in a heel position) rather than out in front. This gives the handler maximum control and prevents the dog from making an impulsive decision. A minor detail, but the details are what keep dogs safe! We are only on Day 2 and the turnaround is mind-blowing. We still have 3 days left to keep building the owner's handling habits and solidifying this fantastic foundation! The Collar Fitting: A huge credit to the owner today—he followed instructions perfectly and turned up with Otto's Dogtra ARC fitted high up the neck exactly where it belongs. The only minor adjustment we made was positioning the slim, curved receiver so the LED indicator light faces up towards the owner's view. With the Dogtra, you need to see that green/red battery flash at a glance during a walk, rather than having it buried facing the floor! ⚠️ CRITICAL TRAINING NOTE & OWNER LIABILITY DISCLAIMER: A 5-day bootcamp provides a fully completed foundation, correct tool calibration, and professional approval for off-lead freedom under the condition that the owner maintains the training. While the dog leaves our care fully capable, safe, and ready for off-lead life, long-term reliability is entirely dependent on owner consistency. To prevent the dog from becoming 'collar-wise' (learning they only have to behave when the collar is physically on), the e-collar must be fitted correctly (high up behind the ears) EVERY single time the dog goes out for the first few months. K9 Bootcamp Limited provides a fully trained dog and extensive handler education; the owner must provide the daily maintenance. If an owner chooses to remove the tool prematurely, fail to fit it correctly, or ignore the maintenance protocols, any behavioral regression or chasing incidents are strictly the responsibility of the owner. No collar worn = no safety net. 📍 K9 Bootcamp Limited - Professional Dog Training in Whitworth, Rochdale. 🌐 Find me on Facebook or visit our website for booking details. #DogTraining #ECollarTraining #GermanShepherd #LivestockAvoidance #K9Bootcamp #DogRecall #Rochdale #Whitworth #GSDTraining #SheepChasing #PredatoryDrive
