I tried rebuilding an s10 engine I know nothing about

I wasn't looking for another project... but somehow this Chevy S10 followed me home. The plan seemed simple: tear the 2.2L engine down, clean everything up, inspect the parts, and see if it could be brought back to life. What started as a routine teardown quickly turned into something I wasn't expecting.
