Difference between Column and Shear wall
This video shows Difference between Column and Shear wall. Column is basically designed as a compression member, while shear wall are mostly designed for lateral loads. Columns are less earthquake resistant while shear wall have high earthquake resistant. Columns are normally provided at the end of rooms, while shear walls run along the length of wall.
