Reckoning with October 7: Panel 1, " Critical Theory in Light of October 7"

The first webinar in a yearlong series hosted by the Telos-Paul Piccone Institute (TPPI) reckoning with the response within universities to the Hamas atrocities of October 7. The webinar features Cary Nelson, Abe Silberstein, and Manuela Consonni. It was held on January 7, 2024. Cary Nelson was President of the American Association of University Professors from 2006-12, and he is emeritus professor of English and Jubilee Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Abe Silberstein is a writer and critic based in New York. His essays have appeared in the New York Times, Ha’aretz, The Forward, Times Literary Supplement (UK), and Dissent, among other publications. Manuela Consonni is Pela and Adam Starkopf Chair in Holocaust Studies and Director of the Vidal Sassoon Center for the Study of Antisemitism at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
