Celebrating Two Independence Days, Gal 5:1-16, Steve Neumeyer Preaching, Transforming Word Center

As we celebrate Independence Day… actually it has been “Independence Week” this year due to the 250th anniversary of our country… we have experienced a mood of celebration. July Fourth was not the end of the struggle, but in many ways it was only the beginning of the struggle for our freedom. In the same way, while the Cross was the central point of our salvation, we are called to walk closer to Christ on a daily basis. Today’s passage of Scripture begins with the point that Christ came to set us free, but too many of those made free were still living in the old bondage of the law. We must break free from the power of old bondages. Today’s passage of Scripture goes on to tell us that when we have entered into a whole new life through a whole new covenant, old rules are turned upside down. While the call to be a holy people remains the same, the road to that holiness looks very different. It looks like the cross. But at the center of a new life of liberty we are still reminded that at the heart of it all is a phrase that tells us that what matters is “Faith working through Love.” On this Independence Day, will faith and love become the highest motivators in your life? Because of the Freedom that Christ brings? Celebrating Two Independence Days, Gal 5:1-16 Steve Neumeyer Preaching Transforming Word Center ...an Assembly of God Outreach Eldora, IA [email protected]
