You take the role of someone wanting to escape the horror of the dark woods, but I'm afraid it isn't that easy, chief. Darkwood is easily one of the scariest games I have played. While it's not as viscerally terrifying as the games by PuppetCombo, and not as meticulously curated as the games by Senscape, it manages to create its own horror through one often misused tactic - responsibility. The player must adapt to their environments and learn to protect themselves, elsewise they will fall to the woods. Craft, kill, explore, defend, trade and scavenge. The only thing you can't do is leave.
