France records hottest day ever as heatwave hits Europe | RTÉ News
France has had its hottest day since measurements began in 1947, the national weather agency has said. The national temperature indicator - an average of daytime and nighttime temperatures across 30 stations - reached 29.8C, Meteo-France said, citing provisional data. Authorities in much of Europe have issued red heat alerts, warning against unnecessary travel and urging people to protect themselves from the sun.
