Mr. Elegant. Who Was Teddy Wilson?
Teddy Wilson (1912–1986) was an American jazz pianist renowned for his elegant and refined playing style, which blended classical training with swing-era jazz. Often called the "Marx of the Keyboard," Wilson played a pivotal role in shaping jazz piano as a sophisticated and melodic art form. He gained fame as part of Benny Goodman’s groundbreaking trio and quartet, which helped to break racial barriers in the 1930s. Known for his light touch and impeccable phrasing, Wilson’s influence extended across generations of jazz musicians.
