Hi, I'm ALEX LIMA and in this video I'll be talking about How to Completely Test MOSFETs with a Digital Multimeter In this Jaba da Eletronica video, we'll take a deeper look at the tests. MOSFET transistors typically have three terminals: Gate, Drain, and Source. The Gate terminal has a similar function to the base of NPN and PNP bipolar transistors. The Gate terminal controls the amount of current flowing through the transistor. The Drain and Source terminals are defined based on the direction of the charge carriers: electrons or holes. If the MOS channel is P-type (excess holes), the Source should be connected to the most positive terminal of the circuit, analogous to a "hole source." If the channel is N-type (excess electrons), the Source should be connected to the most negative terminal of the circuit, analogous to an "electron source." The Drain is the excess terminal. Current in a MOSFET flows between the Source and Drain. The Gate current is typically very small (approaching zero for DC signals), and we will utilize this characteristic in this proposed test.
