However, it wasn't always that way as at one point, the US had plenty of well-known streamlined, fast steam and diesel locomotives pulling famous trains. A failing American rail industry in the 1960s and 70s although led to the collapse and abandoning of much of the established infrastructure. A renewed interested in high speed rail in the US throughout the 1980s and 90s though led to the eventual development of the Acela Express in 1999-2000. What else led to the research, development, and eventual implementation of the Acela? Find out in this episode of Engines of Amtrak. This is final episode I had to remake out of those taken down off YouTube for copyright reasons so yay!
