Élévation, Tierce en taille (Messe pour les Couvents) by François Couperin performed by Ben Bloor on the 45 stop 1954 Downes/Walker organ of the London Oratory Church on Tuesday 15th August 2023. Couperin's 'Pièces d'orgue' in two suites, were published in 1690, when the composer was just 21. They consist of liturgically-based organ music for use in parish masses, and in convents. This tierce en taille movement, with its distinctively 'holy' sound in the tenor register, would have been used at the elevation of the host during mass.
