Tektronix 2235 Oscillocope Repair -- X2 Capacitor Defective
A X2 RFI line capacitor failed. In this unit there are at least 3 other X2 capacitors which must be replaced in the future. The ESR meter showed the capacitor to be open because it only measures up to 20 ohms. A high-value short would not register. All work except for the final testing was done with the power off. A variable isolation transformer was used for the power-on testing. Future projects include adding a fan and replacing electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.
