Creative License-Hockaday Brooms
For more than 100 years now, the family of Jack Martin, the Hockadays, have turned out brooms. Not just any broom, these are clearly handcrafted works of art. Museum quality pieces that have displayed at the Smithsonian, yet ironically and realistically were always designed for a destiny with dust and dirt. Inside a work shed in the small town of Selmer, Jack brings in his crop of broom corn to create a variety of brooms on the handmade machine built by his great-great-grandfather. No automated, push a button, cookie cutter factory line here. His brooms are born one at a time, and it's a fascinating piece of Americana to watch. You just can't know too much about Hockaday Handmade Brooms! So check out their website at www.hhbrooms.com. From Creative License Show 204.
