Conceived by the late Petch Osatanugura, a businessman and collector, his son, Prat "Chan" Osatanugura, led the establishment as Founding Chairman, carrying on his legacy. The name "Dib (ดิบ)" means "raw," "unprocessed," and "as is" in Thai, and the museum's philosophy, architecture, and programs are all underpinned by an affirmation of a "raw" state that is not reduced to existing value systems or completed forms.
