Breakfast with Arup: Tuesday 11th February 2014 Chris Carroll, Director, on Designing from First Principles. Chris explores why we are somewhat constrained by modern day professions & precedent, and that during the time of Archimedes and Da Vinci there were no real boundaries between mathematicians, scientists, astronomers, artists & engineers. Chris goes on to discuss the sheer joy, delight and staggering achievements when working from first principles and designing some of the world’s most stunning buildings.
